So  here he the 2nd part of the Bruksel Live ‘08 edition. As a reminder, the first one had Puggy and The Tellers in it. What’s up with this 2nd one? Long story short, a SD card will die, The Black Box Revelation will make our heads explode eventhough they are only 2 on stage, and Daan will not make any effect at all on me.
So, everyone who ever was close to me in a photo shoot knows that I’m taking A LOT of pictures.. But like A LOT. Used to have 4,5gigas available. That is usally enough for a nite, and to avoid failure of cards, got those giags on 5 cards (2-1-1-0,5). Except, today, of course. Forgot half of it. 1,5Gig is already full by the previous set. So here I am, confident, with 2 gigs left in one card. Except that, when I put my SD card in my camera. Just won’t take pictures. taking it out. Putting it back in. Nope. Don’t want to. I mean… Errrr.. W…. T….?Ok.. Time to be pragmatic here. What did I miss? looking at it. I’m realising the little « lock/unlock slider » is not here anymore.. O….M….G…ok. How the heck should I deal with that? So. I basically took the slider from the 1gig card I had, and put it in the 2gig, that, in the meantime I had like « sliced in two » in order to put the slider of the other card. Trying to make everything go back to the camera. Seems to work. Up to today, the « sliced » card is still in. dunno if it’s a good idea though. But strange to see that, actually, the « lock » slider is only hardware. just a slider, on the side, and it’s the item it’s in (here a camera that should, physically, look of the slider is here.. strange). Anyway, here I was, 2 SD cards fuc*** up, but able to take some pictures of what was coming

Then was coming on stage « The Black Box Revolution », another Belgium Rock band you might say. Yeah.. well.. maybe. But a damn good one. It is « just » a singer (Jan Paternoster) and a drummer (Dries Van Dijck) but feels like we were hit by half a dozen damn good musicians… Powerful, the pit knowing the songs, and loving ‘hem.. really… wow…. One true good discovery!!!

I’m honestly impressed by what we could call the « Belgian School of Rock », except it’s way more than that. There’s a spirit, a mood, a tendancy that is common to those Belgian groups. But not, I reapeat NOT, at all the same sounds. Between Ghinzu, Deus, Hollywood Porn Stars, Girls in Hawaii or here the black box revelation, the good thing is that they all have their own sound/way to create music. And that’s something priceless. It’s not formatted or a copy of a copy, it’s just really talented people who say « what if we can play rock 60’s like, with just a guitar and a drum set? but a little more powerful and entertaining? »  Just love that spirit. Once again, The Belgium is really becoming a more and more pleasant place.

I’ll definitely keep an eye on them. Trying to see if they are having a gig somewhere close, and get their album, in order to really know why I just loved that gig so much And in the meantime, the Atomium was putting on his night dress

Then going back to the Red Bull Area.. Where Compuphonic is playing, while going to grab a Coke This is a really nice event. Duty Noted for next year. Depending on who’s coming, but I’ll probably be here that’s for sure

Once again a true real Electro set. And that felt just goo. Really. I’m not jumping around like I used to when I was able to, but nonetheless, it’s just a lot of fun. Hearing the tracks, mixing one to each other, making everyone dancing, having fun, without violence or hate.. Just for the love of good music.

Going back to the main stage. We can easily go from one to an other. Really a good suprise and a nice thing. Fed up with the places that are just no designed to have crowd like that. Here, it’s really not a problem, stoping by just to show the nice Asian « food on the go » I went to

And that’s where I am the most happy. Making candids, no posing, no other light. Everything « as is ». It’s even more nice in here, cause there are some spots that are here to enlighten the pits, makes nice shadows, nice portraits, nice pictures. In the end, in photography, everything comes back to lighting, to how the light is present, how we will make it react to our camera, how we will play with it. Everyone knows I’m not at all pretending to be a photographer, It’s just a passion… And no, I’m not good at it, no matter what every one will say. It’s just I’m having a lot of fun, and that is probably the most important thing when ur having a hobbie

Just the time to make a quick self portrait… those spots are really powerful wow… ^^ (I’m 45meters away from it). It’s just a gimmick now. Trying to get a reflect or a shadow of me… who knows why

The comes on stage « Daan », probably Flamish I’d say. And he seemed well known.. except… Long story short. Just didn’t dive into his concert. Maybe the sound, maybe the lyrics I could bearly hear. Maybe the « I’m a blue cowboy » trip is not for me. Though I heard some good songs.. But I don’t know… Exhausted? maybe, but I’ve been exhausted to concert, and that didn’t prevent me to love it. Strange. For once, not hot or cold about that, just… don’t care. Strange. Some day I might see him again and appreciate. Nothing personnal. Just not what I wanted to hear at that precise moment I think

So i’m preparing to going back Home… Meaning I would miss a colleague who is supposed to play « between midnite and 2am »… yay… but no.. Daan just fuck** up the end of the nite, not in the proper mood let’s say. The one who were supposed to play were the one who created thie event « Belgikolor » that I missed some month ago. darn it. Second time I then learned that there was actually a power black out for almost 20 to 30 minutes depending on the stage.. hehe… was a lucky guess to leave this early…   And in the meantime, a small snapshot with the Wolf, who still doesn’t have a name…

Bruksellive ‘08 edition. A free music festival. A one day shot, a nice idea. Right next to one of the symbol of Belgium had being held this Bruksel live edition. What’s the story behind it? Don’t really know, except the front speakers speak Flamish, which makes me hard to laugh at the jokes they are saying ^^ . In the « theâtre de verdure », everything here is set up for a nice evening/nite. With a majority of Belgium bands obviously, but doesn’t matter, I’m used to the quality pop/rock sound Belgium can create. The 1st part of the evening will be The Tellers and Puggy, already saw the last one for the « Fête de la Musique » a month ago.

Nice environnement that is the « Théâtre de Verdure » actually. This morning, a heavy shower/ rain made me doubt that this was going to happen. at 2pm, blue sky, no more thunder or wind. Strange, but good

As usual, bought my tickets to get some drinks (one ticket = one euro = one coke, that’s a good deal), the fellow on the bar side « would you let me take a picture of ya? » me « errr… of course » him « wow.. is that full manual ».. me « yup » him « and you don’t have an autofocus lens? » me « where would be the fun? » him « ok, done » me « i’m sure it’s out of focus » him « probably, but my camera is just.. different » no worries buddy, just need to have the habit to use this awesome lens (50mm f/1,4).

Before everything starts, also took the time to eat. I know after that it will be crowdy/difficult/ lack of space. How’s that I’m getting used to festival like those ones? no.. not true… I did not came with a cap to close my cokes because I know they are keeping them (in order to avoid some throws on stage).. hum hum… Asian, as at the Ardentes, very good too, not a crapy sandwich or something microwave no no, the guy is making the dishes just on the right of the serving plates, cool

Then here comes the Tellers. Didn’t really knew them I got to confess. I listened to their album though. Kinda cool. But how can we describe it…. Totally « the Libertines » like, eventhough with a lack of Pete Doherty… But the tracks are nice, cool to start the day. The singer seems to be in a « Oasis/ Gallagher » kinda mood, but well.. you know.. Those kind of things happend ^^ Reminds me the support act of The Darkness at the Olympia in Paris, a band that was a (deadly bad) copycat of the Rolling Stones, early years. (I actually remember the name of the band, but no need to make them some publicity, they were just wayyyyyyyyyy too bad).

And so here comes the Tellers, smiling, happy, the pit is really not fullfilled at all. Maybe too early for most of the people. Always like that. Maybe the fact that I don’t know at all the main gig of the event (Daan) makes me not be very objective, almost everything will be a discovery tonite. So the Tellers, nice, the same typic guitar on all of the tracks, but it’s really a nice moment

Half an hour before the next one. The time for a bunch of people to say « photo? » me « errrr…. yup.. hang on a second » and here I was speaking « I’m french, i’ve been in london, dublin, luxembourg blabla, I work for blabla » Nice thing, nice moment, but they had to catch a Subway so they left quiet early   [Comme prévu les jeunes, laissez un commentaire pour recevoir vos cartes!]

So now here come « Puggy », niiiiiiice, I loved them a month ago, no need to say that now I had downloaded their album and so it’s way easy to sing outloud and to know how/when they will jump or move during a track, with is easier to take good clichés of a gig, gotta confess So here was the reason why I am currently falling in Love for that City, the ability to generate/create events that are free, or affordable, and people to come to see it, but like.. a lot of people

Puggy, it’s a lot of energy, a good rythm, nice lyrics, and guitar riffs that allow this swedish-french-english band to drive you high on happinness. A good thing is that they also will be performing at the « Bruxelles Summer Festival », another free festival lasting 2 weeks at the end of August. Just love the energy that is coming through the crowd. Even if, has the singer states. « We need more people in the pit, c’mon people!!! Because if I stage dive like right now, I’m going to kill myself!!! « 

45 minutes. not enough. but well, hey, it’s still a good moments. Moments like that make me realise how happy I am in here, how a free event like this can bring joy right here right now. Of course, everything’s not perfect, I know what I am missing to be completely fullfilled. Kinda working on it right now. Would be happily surprise to see the band come to sign some autographs and take some picture just near the stage a couple of minutes after the show. Cool.

Then going to the « Red Bull academy », where right now, COZZY MOZZY is playing a set. Nice. It’s just basically a SUV from where the mixing things are handing out of the trunk. Fun. Reminds me my « early years » when I used to be able to dance, move and was really loving electronic music. *sigh* Those were the days, but damn it it’s not over. Without really wanting it here, I started move a little bit, appreciating the Music and all the people that were also here to have some fun.

There was also a Red Bull Car, the same one as the one I saw a couple of years ago in Dublin, and some months ago in Paris. Maybe I should start a collection of cliché of some kind or something like that… Who knows…

The sun was going down, and the « ambiance » was going up. Dunno really what we could ask for more
