Je ne sais même plus comment ça à commencé. Je ne lis pas la presse musicale. Je n’avais donc aucune idée que les Inrocks faisaient tourner un festival annuel depuis quelques années déjà. Grâce à @Gauthier, qui avait pris sa place pourr le même festival à Nantes, j’ai eût la joie de découvrir “The Ting Tings” live. Et là… bon… je vais pas pouvoir dire concert de l’année (faudrait qd même que je fasse un bilan de cette année de concerts), pas non plus concert du semestre… Trimestre…? Pour sûr celui du mois de Novembre en tout cas (ok, que 2 concerts pr le moment, mais on est même pas à la moitié du mois :p). Donc allait arriver à Lille : le groupe énergique Black Kids, la tendre et calme SoKo, ceux qui m’ont rappelé du bon vieux Joy Division “Cajun Dance Party”. Et surtout donc Jules De Martino et Katie White de la formation de Manchester de “The Ting Tings”… *bruit de batterie fort et puissant comme on les <3 * “shuuuut up and let me goooooo” le public : “hheeeyyyy!”

Coldplay. Des anglais. Le concert de l’année. Un milliard de choses, de sensations, de “waow”, de “non, je vais pas pleurer”, de “quoi, ils vont faire une chanson DANS le public?”, de “merci les gars, vous venez de me mettre une bonne grosse claque à tous les niveaux, émotionnel, visuel, musical, sincère, tendre, touchant, honnête, les pieds sur terre”. Viva la vida, une ode à la vie, à l’amour, aux sentiments, aux petites choses de cette vie qu’on aime tant, à l’idée que des milliers de personnes puissent encore être sous le charme. Rien de plus normal. Et on en redemande…

Matmatah. Groupe d’origine Bretonne (Brest), connu en France pour les 20-30 ans, notamment avec les chansons du style “Lambé an Dro” ou “L’apologie” (vous pouvez aussi connaitre si vous ne faites pas partie de l’échantillon représentatif susnommé hein… no offense). Mais Matmatah, c’est 5 albums, une présence Live indéniable, un engagement dans les paroles, un souci d’évoluer, de grandir, de montrer qu’ils sont bien plus nécessaire au paysage rock Français que l’on pourrait le croire. Tout cela est désormais du passé, après 13 années, Matmatah à fait son dernier concert en tant que groupe à part entière, et il fût à Bruxelles. Et ce fût un moment incroyable, “cerise” sur le gateau, c’était gratuit, c’était blindé, c’était impressionnant d’y être.

The Bellrays
That is precisely why, despit the short format of every gig in a Music festival like “les Ardentes”, I love being there. You have the possibility to discover some talents, singer, groups etc.. That you might never heard before if it wasn’t for this particular day. Today, after the awesome “Hollywood Porn Stars“, time for “The Bellrays” and “Nneka”, two artists that I now want to hear in my headphones.. Discovering talent every now and then is just so nice

”Les Ardentes” Music Festival in Liège, 2ème partie (En Français dans le texte). Here I was. Back in Liège, Belgium, for the “electro Rock Festival”. 2nd part, but actually 3rd day, (1st day with Camille amongst other is here) meaning Saturday, didn’t went on Friday, got to work, u know the drill, and the only artist that really made me wanted to come (M.I.A.) as cancelled. No Biggie. Today will be nice. Starting with Devotchka , will then come the Hollywood Porn Star.

So here he the 2nd part of the Bruksel Live ‘08 edition. As a reminder, the first one had Puggy and The Tellers in it. What’s up with this 2nd one? Long story short, a SD card will die, The Black Box Revelation will make our heads explode eventhough they are only 2 on stage, and Daan will not make any effect at all on me.

The Tellers
Bruksellive ‘08 edition. A free music festival. A one day shot, a nice idea. Right next to one of the symbol of Belgium had being held this Bruksel live edition. What’s the story behind it? Don’t really know, except the front speakers speak Flamish, which makes me hard to laugh at the jokes they are saying ^^ . In the “theâtre de verdure”, everything here is set up for a nice evening/nite. With a majority of Belgium bands obviously, but doesn’t matter, I’m used to the quality pop/rock sound Belgium can create. The 1st part of the evening will be The Tellers and Puggy, already saw the last one for the “Fête de la Musique” a month ago.

les Ardentes 2008
So it was the time for the French Singer “Camille”. What do I know about her? not much I have to say. For me, she’s from the generation of new “French singer who have lyrics that are nice, and are never, willingly or not, to have 2 or more instruments in their tracks”. Guess after the real nice demonstration I was going to experience that I was far away from that. Should have listen to one of my ex who was only talking about her a while ago. Camille is now at is, I think, 3rd record, and we can see than on stage, she do more than the job.

So here I am, clearly frustrated by the security guy at the entrance… ewww… C’mon… I love photo, not my fault… 
So after the awesome Flogging Molly Concert… Just went to ask “but well, ya know, it’s a small camera, and I see some in here that are 4 times the size…” the lady “well.. ok… if it’s not too big”…. The camera is not don’t worry. It’s the eye of the photographer behind it that’s needed ^^ (right now, u can just throw flowers at me, no biggy). So here I was, on the tracks where going to be Empyr, Brisa Roché and Yael Naïm…

Flogging Molly
OK… so here we go for the 1st day at the “Ardentes” Music Festival in Liège, Belgium. 4 days, and a lot of good people coming in what is not that of a big city. Just love the idea. Going with a friend, and to sum up. Dat was just a nice first day, really (even if we argued about some artists with my friend). Yes, we had problem finding our way from Brussels to the Music fest, but that was worth it. The number of good artists was enough to make us not even care about the rainy moments. We arrived. Flogging Molly arrived on stage. Already saw them @ Ancienne Belgique. And THAT is definitively something.
