OK… so here we go for the 1st day at the « Ardentes » Music Festival in Liège, Belgium. 4 days, and a lot of good people coming in what is not that of a big city. Just love the idea. Going with a friend, and to sum up. Dat was just a nice first day, really (even if we argued about some artists with my friend). Yes, we had problem finding our way from Brussels to the Music fest, but that was worth it. The number of good artists was enough to make us not even care about the rainy moments. We arrived. Flogging Molly arrived on stage. Already saw them @ Ancienne Belgique. And THAT is definitively something.
Prior to that, with my 4 day pass, at the entrance…. « What is that? a zoom lens…? » ME, honest as ever… « yup ».. « where’s the camera? » « in the front of the bag » « can’t do sorry mate ». Frackkkkk offf… c’mon… because i’m honest enough not to hide it will not allow me to come in with my small D40? pffff… lame… totally lame. Came in, saw « Auryn » then « Victoria Tibblin », 2 really nice artists. Didn’t know them. Auryn is belgium, and quiet, and it’s just perfect to start the day Victoria Tibblin is more « Hole » like, powerful, on the 2nd stage. Then came the Molly’s

The 2nd time I saw them in a couple of months. The 2nd slap in my face. The Flogging Molly, it’s pure happinness and joy on stage. It’s almost 10 guys, always on the road, and still happy to arrive to Liège, under the rain, whereas they were « in Greece, and it’s a lot warmer » [...] « But as usual your an amazing crowd, we made a lot of friend in here ». And I don’t have much doubt about it. Not only because I went to Ireland and see Dave King, the lead singer (45ish years old) drinking Guinness on Stage is just awesome. I yelled some « Slainte! » but didn’t get to the stage (means cheers in Irish). 70minutes on stage, some same song as in the AB, but definitely not the same in between stuff etc. That’s where u see they handle the road pretty well ♪ « Must it take a life for hateful eyes/ To glisten once again/ Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess/ Singin’ Drunken Lullabies » ♪

I have only 2 pics. Doesn’t matter that much. It’s raining. We’re in front, in the sand. Like mooving sand. Some lads are throwing themselves to the face of others at my left. I’m surrounded by lovely ladies, and I’m in front of musicians I love Wha Can I say ^^ The gig is ending, I definitely look at the dates in Europe when they’ll come back… time to say goodbye. The bassisst Nathen Maxwell get down from stage, but this time, will not dive in the crowd as in Brussels, and Dennis Casey, the Guitar/vocal on the left is also coming down just to say Hi to the crowd ^^Of course some of us, all muddy (thanks to the Belgium rain) but are still coming close to shake is hand…. Here’s where I just look into my Moo’s Card… those little cards where I just put my blog etc to be able to give a way to get the pictures to some people that I’m taking ^^

And so here I am, hanging him a card from one of the picture I took when I saw them in the AB.. He’s just seing this little piece out of the crowd reaching him (or at least being in his direction), smiling saying « owwwww », and grabbing it…. ♪« And life leads me here/ It shows me, I have never really loved no one but me/ Like the time, you slipped through my hands/ And I’ll never understand/ No I’ll never understand, why I’m such a Selfish Man » ♪

Over Twenty-ish people he’s just hanging me a pick.. Yay ^^ Then just a quick word like « I saw you in Brussels, just thanks for all the happiness your giving us », a smile, should might have take a pic if I had my camera with.. What the hell.. I’m just happy to see artists that are just lovin’ the fact that yeah, they’re airing really early at this festival, but hell yeah I’ll be here

This was definitely a class act… This is just a group that played a gig, with the some of the same songs, but not as a cut and paste, I hate when it’s like that ^^ Just love it. Hope seeing them soon (and why not.. let us dream that they’ll stop by in here to say Hi *dreaaaammmmmmer*) ♪ « I’ll wait for you till I turn blue/ There’s nothin’ more a man can do/ Don’t get your bollocks in a twist/ Settle down, don’t take a fit/ Ya drank with demons straight form Hell/ They almost nearly won as well/ Ya wiped the floor with victory/ Then puked until you fell asleep » ♪

Les Flogging Molly…. groupe de rock, americano/irlandais celtique punk… On se souvient des Dropkick Murphys il y a quelques semaines.. ben pareil.. même concept… des musiques qui donnent envie de bouger, de sauter partout, et surtout, de reprendre en choeur des chansons qui nous parlent forcément Dave King, le lead Singer, est charismatique, et est manifestement sur scène pour prendre du plaisir, un plaisir communicatif l’AB.. jusqu’à présent c’est les Plain White T’s, The Cult, KT Tunstall, The Kills et bientôt Cat Power, Counting Crows…. wouhou Mais avant cela, y’a eût « Pepper », un groupe, je cite « de ska Hawaïen »… cela ne s’invente pas…. On se retrouve avec, sur scène 2 pseudo Kelly Slater se déchainant sur leur guitare respective.. ah ouais.. quand même… et pourtant.. ca commence à jouer avec le public.. a ouvrir une canette sur la scène… ah ouais.. quand même….

Les Kens en feuuuulie reprenaient gentiment leur titres les plus connus… c’est quand même du bon gros son bien lourd… note pour plus tard… le centre de l’AB est plus propice à ne pas avoir les oreilles en choux (de bruxelles) fleur à cause de la proximité relative du sound system sur les côtés

Toujours est il que c t pas trop « ska », et heureusement au fond, car ce n’est pas trop ma tasse de thé sinon. On reconnait par moment une base de ska/dub, mais le déchainement de guitarsssssss et de batteries prends le dessus assez vite…

Le temps de démonter le set.. d’attendre un peu… et je prévois le coup.. je m’écarte quand même un peu du centre et de la barrière devant la scène.. Je me suis fait avoir au Dropkick Murphys… si je peut éviter de quitter la salle avec des coups de coudes dans les gencives et là… effectivement… les lumières se tamisent… et The Who avec « Teenage Wasteland » est entonné par les speakers et le public… et ca me fait penser à House M.D…. allez comprendre ce genre d’automatisme… et là.. encore une fois.. wouhouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Ce qui y’a de bien dans ce genre de concert, c’est le côté totalement non prétentieux des musicos… ils ne se la joue pas, ils sont heureux d’être là, avec un public conquis et super réactif.. Je le dis à chaque fois.. mais franchement… Le public ici est juste incroyable… ce qui rend probablement ces concerts si prenant.. outre le prix tout piti ^^

L’AB était encore bien full.. même si bon… pas sold out.. étonnant que se le fûsse pour les Dropkick et pas pour eux.. va comprendre… et donc les chansons s’enchainent, les moments où ils racontent l’hisoire de la chanson, où il communique avec le public….

Je passe le nombre de Guinness qu’il s’ouvrira sur scène… assez hallucinant.. les riffs se suivent, l’ambiance monte… les classiques sont joués, repris, criés, dansés…. je prends du plaisir à entonner des airs à tendance celtique… une heure 1/2 de fougue, de puissance, de joie dans la tête… ils reviennent le 7 juillet aux ardentes… possible que je fasse des pieds et des mains pr aller les voir ^^ Ca a sauté dans tous les sens.. et ca se voit.. je passe sur le bassisste qui finira par plonger dans la foule… échangeant meme sa chemise avec un des gars de la salle…. l’hallu… et je ressors, heureux, as usual…
